Content Director, FICC Canada Business Control & Supervision   What is the opportunity?   As a Director in our Global Markets Supervision team, you will join RBC Capital Markets and will have the responsibility to e nsure a robust Front Office Control Framework for our Fixed Income Commodities & Currency (FICC) Sales & Trading team in Canada. Your main responsibilities will also include reporting and monitoring so that the business can evidence that it has the appropriate level of Supervision & Controls in place that will enable it to reasonably identify conduct issues or practices which could impact regulatory or reputational risk.   The successful incumbent will be results driven, a good team player and will utilize their strong written and oral communication skills while providing and managing the delivery of regulatory solutions to address business needs for our FICC desks.   What will you do?   • Provide advisory support to FICC Front Office personnel with respect to industry regulation legal requirements and internal policies • Continuous review of existing Supervisory programme in an effort to enhance processes, focus on risk-based reviews, and detect and remediate potential Supervisory control gaps • Accountable for providing senior leaders, as well as FICC professionals within each asset class, appropriate levels of insight to ensure awareness of key risks and proper understanding of the rules, regulations and policies • Work closely with IT and Front Office to leverage expertise and technology where possible, in an effort to automate and reduce inefficiencies related to Supervisory reviews, including enhancements to Supervisory Checklists, Dashboards and Management Reporting • Keep current on regulatory change and internal/external guidance and consider the impact to FICC • Ensure attestation on all Supervisory functions such as book ownership, application access, etc. are performed and completed as required • Ensure timely completion of Management action plans from risk assessments, internal audits and regulatory reviews • Foster, develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior functional and business management, including FICC Leadership in order to adequately support the business • Proactively identify operational risk/control deficiencies in the business and assist in developing solutions / mitigating controls • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities • Promptly escalate operational risk events, control deficiencies and risks What do you need to succeed? Must-have:   • BA, MA, MS or equivalent with a detailed understanding of Global Markets Sales and Trading business lines • Strong knowledge of the FICC business and applicable regulations • At least 5-10 years of prior experience working within the Global Markets business with a fous on FICC • At least 3 years of prior experience with regulatory implementations for Capital Markets • Strong business judgement, ability to make and support recommendations without complete information • Solid understanding of financial markets • Proven impact and influence skills to engage cross-functional team members • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply creative solutions   What's in it for you?   We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
